Mine don't get trimmed by a barefoot trimmer they simply don't wear shoes!
My Gray lad had AWFUL feet in racing due to the work load - we are talking 3 massive cracks in each foot that were stapled over and we plastered him in Keratex every single day twice a day.
Now he has feet that could rival my shetlands! I have fed him many things over the years but the things that have never changed right from the word go are Alfa A, Veteran Vitality and some form of conditioning cubes.
Mine I recently discovered has a real problem with soya. He does great on grass nuts. I've had one that was thin until I stopped the molassed sugar beat.
Balancer wise, anything with no iron and no manganese, unless you know that your forage and grazing is low in them.
The last one came here with dreadful feet, while in training he had been on a hoof supplement, I took him off everything while on box rest he had hay and a token feed of grassnuts, salt and magnesium, he had no feed when turned away and came into work rather porky so had no feed for the whole summer in rehab doing hours of roadwork every day, once his feet had grown out they were super strong and never caused any issues whatever he was fed or how much work he had, he had better feet in the end than some of the non tb's .
