Some of you might remember this thread I posted a year ago about the 2yr old I'd just bought from the stud...

I just wanted to say thank you again for the advice last year.

He's now 3 and absolutely fantastic. He's still a bit behind physically because of his bad run I'm assuming but I'm in no rush and he can have all the time he needs.

So here's ZZ Chip at 3 (excuse the cream on his quarters, he had a wee scrape)

A wee comparison of 12 June 2014 vs 10 June 2015

My goodness, what a wonderful transformation.

Just shows how a bit of tlc and sensible feeding can improve a horse in a year. He looks fab, I would be very proud of that achievement.

Thank you Doormouse

Pink boots - he's by ZZ Hoss out of Ms Betty Blue so he has Peptoboomsal, Bueno Chexinic, Peppy San Badger and Smart Little Lena in his pedigree.

I'm sure I uploaded his pedigree to allbreeds, I'll see if I can find the link...

Are you into Quarter Horses?

I had no idea he was a quarter horse I was just curious as i liked him I have only known 2 quarter horses at an old yard both lovely horses, I know they cross them with Arabs quite a bit and I am into my Arabs.

He looks just great, what a good job you have done with him. Did you find him in Scotland, I know there are some qaurter horse breeders North of the border?

Thank you everyone. He's a complete star :)

I bought him directly from Evans Quarter Horses, they are a stud in Wales.

Thank you again, it's very nice of you all to be so complementary about Chip.

I don't have any big plans really. I'm just enjoying having a youngster again and looking forward to starting a backing a horse for the first time in 12yrs!

Hoping that he'll be a nice mannered, well trained all rounder and that we'll have lots of fun for many years. So not asking much! Ha ha

He can have all the time he needs, he'll be 4 next June so I can't imagine starting him before then.

Time is so important. My mare just wasn't physically mature enough to back last year. I played around and walked on her in the autumn then did nothing until now.

I love the rewards that having them from babies brings.
