I changed my 5 yr old cobs feed approx 6 weeks ago. Basically want her to have more energy, stanima and a bit of sparkle or a turbo boost :D she is fed 1 scoop competition plus mix with oats, large handful of mollassed chaff and a good slug of sunflower oil., her weight is good. Although she has improved energy wise she is still lacking sparkle. She hacks 3 x per week for up to 1 hr wigh lots of hillwork and trot 1 x faster hack with canter and 1 x schooling session per week. I know she is young and a cob so partly its to do with building fitness levels.
So ehat do you give your cob for added energy? Oats dont seem to be working!

Hi - I asked a similar question here last year for one of our chunkier polo ponies - she was lacking oomph ( even though she was generous amounts of oats!) Some wise people recommended Power and Performance and it has been amazing. She has more energy ( without being fizzy), and serious stamina - it's like it's given her an extra gear. Can't recommend the stuff highly enough!

My first response is get the horse fit. If riding from the field she could just be tired. Maybe it is just her laid back gentle attitude. As long as she responds to your request and can do the distance then she has the oomph.

I'm watching this with interest. I asked the same question last week but no one answered. I called the Allen and page help line and they advised starting on their fast fibre. Not sure if it is working enough as he has only been on it a few days.

I need the ideal scenario. Give him energy but without the craziness and make sure I'm careful with this weight for fear of laminitis
