I have inky on a stud mix at the moment and i am feeding the recommended weight as per the instructions for his weight. ( 700g a day if i recall ) Inky is only 31" and weighs about 110kg now. He is two in May 08. He has a tiny bit of speedibeet to moisten his feed and is fed twice a day. He has hay at night and is in the field all day from 6.30am till about 5pm.
Now i really do feel that i am feeding too much. He has just started being walked out in hand about 3 times a week for 20 mins or so. he will be shown later this year and does need to loose a little of his belly. I have had suggestions that maybe i should reduce his hard feed but im worried then that he'll not be getting what he requires as a growing youngster. Do you feed your youngsters the recommended amount of feed or do you just "make it up"???
