I have never heard of this before, but this morning, Dexter was following a couple of the other girls arund as they got their horses.

When I apologised for him being a pain they said it was ok as they had just given him some apple ( fine), carrott ( also fine) and cucumber!!!!!

Is this ok, I am just worried that it may have the same effect as cucumber has on some people, and peraps cause collic.

Anyone heard, or feeds it as a treat

I don't know about cucumber, but I do wish people wouldn't feed other people's horses.

Someone once told me how much my horse likes pears. I was livid.

cucumber is fine i used to feed my horses in thailand it ALL the time!

My mare here in england has eaten a cheese and cucumber sandwich (plus clingfilm) and been perfectly fine (thank god!)

we used to give them cucumber before a comp as it makes their mouth frothy...a bit like an apple!

Thanks Holly p that puts my mind at rest.

As for feeding from hand I do not really agree either, but when I got him back from his loan home, he has had such pysch problems that I got in a behavoirist who said that in Dexters case he would recommend feeding from the hand, so that he was no longer afraid of human hands, so we encourage it.
