I'm after a bit of feeding advice, my mare is currently on calm and condition and Saracen chaff with a bit of speedi beet in the winter months.

I've started to increase her work load from light hacking to medium work, her fitness level is increasing but after about half an hours work she gets a bit flat and lazy, and makes me do all of the work

Can any one recommend a food that will give her a bit more energy but not make her fizzy? If I feed her any sort of cereal based food it sends her nutty!

I was thinking of trying power and performance but I'm open to any other suggestions?

Thanks

Power and performance would be the way I'd go. Calm and Condition is "half strength" power and performance, so the P+P should just help with some sustained work. Obviously as her fitness increases, that will help too!!

Im having the same issue, Dengie have suggested alfa beet and a balancer and my horse is on red cell as well. But Im yet to see effects, it seems nothing at all gives me horse oommmph, he's been on oats, competeion mix etc, we got somewhere with sugar beet but he started putting weight on, so i had to change it to alfa beet. He is willing and does the job, just no spark?????

Lots of people have suggested red cell or propell plus to me.

Another vote here for Allen & Page Power & Performance. It gives all the energy you want but without the fizziness associated with many energy giving feeds. Both my show jumpers are on it & going well.
