Beau has a tendancy to heat up when on mix, even cool mix. So I have removed it from his diet as for a start I will not be doing as much as Louise was doing with him, and he is a very good doer in a massive field!

He is currently getting the remains of the Alpha -A that lou gave me, Happy hoof, Sugar beet and codlivine.
I have to say that he seemed pretty 'wired' yesterday, and was extremely lively in his box, and when being ridden.

He is a 15.3hh Shire X, and is stabled.

I know happy hoof has some nuts in it, but do u think they will still heat him up? And he should be fine without mix yes? He survived 2 winters ago with just wet chaff and codlivine powder and was glowing! I just dont want to be depriving him of nutrients etc.

I personally dont think that he really needs fed at all as before I got him he wintered out unfed with just hay in the field as was the size of a house(but he wasnt ridden), but he gets so upset that I feel bad and give him something, even though he gets TWO haynets of Haylege a night(he only ever eats one and a half but its in case he doesnt get turned out till later).

happy hoof didnt make mine silly (hes TB can be prone to having a hot head lol)

its for horses prone to laminitus so shouldnt contain much that could hot him up

my friend gives it to her Irish Cob has got pleanty of weight on to say the leat so she feels like shes getting a good feed without actually putting weight on, it also contains lots of useful vitamins/minerals for your neddy

The nuts in Happy Hoof are the vitamin and mineral pellet and don't conatin any energy so shouldn't be making him fizzy. Also, Happy Hoof is already completely balanced so you don't really need the codlivine supplement.

I'd just use the Happy Hoof if I were you, at least then you know its definately not his feed!

Oh hes fine on Speedi Beet, I actually think it may be the Alfalfa, as I had him on it before and he got easily wound up.

Well tonight he was like a different horse, really relaxed, well behaved and lunged like an angel. Also stood for 20 mins whilst I pulled his tail and he didnt bat an eyelid
