Hi,

I have done a search and i must be blind as I cant see a thread that answers my questions!

I have a rising 3 year old warmblood who has recently lost alot of condition through poor grazing. She is barefoot, and has never had shoes on, and I am hoping to keep it this way. As she is only young, and will be slow developing I dont want something that is too high in protein that may cause problems later with her joints.

Currently she is getting fed, 16+ mix, alfa-a original, unmolassed sugar beet, micronized linseed, and pro balance.

I am wanting to change this for a more barefoot friendly diet, and was looking at the fast fibre, but will this be enough to improve her weight?
If I changed to this, should I feed it alongside the sugarbeet, and would I be best getting some molasses free chaff?

Any ideas/advice welcome!

Thanks

Fast fibre is glorified straw, so no it probably wont help gain weight. Has a very low DE of about 7 I think.

Personally I'd drop the 16+ and maybe the alfa-a, Fast fibre is similar to unmollassed beet in it's properties but I got talking to a lady in the feed shop the other day who said it had worked wonders for her oldie's weight this winter... may be worth a try... then I'd increase the Micronised linseed.. you could add copra if you need to but to be honest, sometimes less is more... and if grazing is set to improve, I would leave Dr Green to do it's stuff :)
