One of our 14.2hh jumping ponies is a very laid back character and needs to be fed to give him extra sparkle and energy. What are your suggestions for extra fizz?

At present he gets 3/4 round scoop oats, half scoop Alfa A Lite, carrots and a vitamin supplement all twice a day.

Any feed merchant should be able to get them for you - they are expensive around £13 for 20kg.

I put around 300g to 500g (so half a scoop if your scoop is 1kg as flaked peas are lighter with volume than say cubes).

Someone on here suggested them (thankies), and they make much more difference than oats. I was feeding top spec turbo oats, but have been able to swtich back to cheaper rolled oats with peas added.

Downside is the horse's poo does smell a bit different, but has made a difference on mine - he is Mr. Laid back and he will actually gallop properly with peas!

Now that is really interesting - I might just try that thank you. Sorry post hijacking!

I feed according to work load as they are high protein.

This week he is not getting them as I have been working late, so not working him so hard and he is in a very grassy paddock this week, as resting my starvation paddock.

If I were competing this weekend I would be gradually increasing the quantity. If on a starvation paddock as normal, I would be feeding a 1/4 scoop if in light work and half a scoop if in med work and possibly more leading up to heavy work / all day comps.
