What is a good thing to feed a youngster to encourage growth and her maturing nicely. Would something like top spec be a good idea?? I do not want her to get fizzy. Thanks
I've been really, really impressed with top spec.
And even when turning immature 4yo happy hacker who looked like a greyhound into a maturing potential competition horse with whale tendencies, (!) not a hint of over-excitement, over-fast development...
Combined it with varying amounts of sugar beet, conditioning cubes (small quanitities only) and decent haylage.
Used it with lean TB 7yo who'd never been backed, as had NO muscle development on an adult frame so was wondering what on earth to do with him - worked a treat on him too.
my 4 year old has been on a fibre only diet for the last 2.5 years and she has grown slowly and properly.
Just gets high fibre cubes, happy hoof chaff, and the usual Vit + minerals (with sugar beet in winter)
She has developed brilliantly and everyone comments on what a great size and shape she is
Rather than spend a fortune on top up feeds I think gradual change and constant fibre is the best way- ONLY MY OPINION though
Goodluck
My three year old TB is nice and calm and shiny on top spec. Don't know if that helps. I like to use a balancer because then I know they are getting all their vits!
My 4 year old warmblood is feed Alpha - A and oil with a handful of pasture nuts to make it intersting. He is on reasonable grazing though and has good haylage.
