I have an incredibly picky GSD, the only food I can just about manage to get him to eat is Natural Insinct, the thing is he'll ony eat it if it's still frozen. My thinking is wild animals in frozen regions must eat frozen meat so it should be ok, but does anyone know of any reasons why it might be bad for him?

((I have tried everything to get him to eat, he even turns his nose up at human food, he has been to the vets and there is nothing medically wrong with him, he will actually start losing weight because of his pickiness so putting food down and giving him 10mins then taking it away does not work))

Mine eats almost all his meals frozen and is quite happy with it, it slows him down which keeps him happier and by the time he swallows each mouthful it has defrosted anyway. It also gives him a better "chew" which keeps him happy.
Generally the only risk is to tiny dogs for whom too much cold can be harmful or fatal.

As long as his core temperature is normal, I hear this is fine. Have you tried him on anything else frozen? I wonder if it's the texture, the lack of smell....?

Thanks dollyanna that's reassuring. He seems perfectly happy this way, he's a pretty slow eater so everything is well chewed before it goes down.

Good point cinnamontoast, natural instinct do a frozen sausage thing that looks like salami, I give them to mine on hot days as treats and it's about the only treat he eats, I was amazed when I first gave him one. He hates anything crunchy so I doubt it's texture, my best guess is the lack of taste, he's an odd dog! Lol.
