Feeding hay from floor & wood pellet bedding

Hi, anyone else feeding hay from the floor and using wood pellet bedding? I'm thinking of doing this but wonder if anyone's encountered any problems? Thanks

I do this and dont have a problem but there is an area that I keep clear of bedding that I put the haylage into

depends if your horse will spread it or just eat it??

Maybe try a haybar

I do this with youngsters but keep it in a separate area to the bed.
The bits they spread about don't seem to cause any problem as they rummage it out and leave the bedding alone.

I'd only do it if your wood pellet bed has a clear "play area" for the hay. I hate hate hate hay in my wood pellet bedding.

last we we used wood pellets and loved them. we also had a haybar at the back for our tb. We found he pulled his hay out and got mixed in with bedding but now still using wood pellets but with a hay net!! The best thing to do with wood pellets is not to throw the bed up at all. The bed goes super compact which means they dont kick it fowards and you can just scrape the dropping of the top = less waste !!!! xx
