Mare
14yrs
Very hypo, nervous, fizzy, stupid etc made worse by starch where lies my problem.... i cant keep weight on her & conditioning feeds contain high starch

No no no i hear you shouting at the computer... balancers but i'm afraid i havent yet found one that will keep weight on her without sending her off her rocker.

Dont get me wrong she is rideable as she is but its the weight thats the issue without making her worse.

Currently on WE growth not condition (on there advise) but wks in and shes dropping condition

Much sympathy. My WB has the same problem. After a lot of advice form everyone here I have put him on a show mix plus Alfa A oil with Pink Powder.
I will keep you posted

My mare cant touch starch or alfa a, both send her a bit crazy, and she is a picky eater and hates sugar beet.
The answer, Topspec Cool Condition cubes and Pink powder, 3 feeds a day with dengi Hi fi!

I have found great balance with calm and condition allen and paige and ozzie chaff.Previously couldnt have hard feed at all sent her completely ott once we settled her on allen and paige I discussed random spooky moments with yo who told me her mare who is a saint cant tolerate dengie alpha which my mare had been on for years.Since swapping to ozzie chaff her leaps on hacks in canter have virtually stopped.Shes no saint but has improved drastically to the point where I hack on my own sometimes as well.I have her on magnesium and chaste berry to help with her pmt lol.Shes 7 yr old tbx (all tb I think) who had not hacked or schooled only jumped at 100mph.I now have lovely little all rounder.

This week i have added fast fibre to her feed to help over winter .She has added 40 kilos this summer with condition and grass has been scarce so she has had hay add lib since july.

soya oil or corn oil from supermarket - give her 200ml a day not heating but puts weight on well.
I used it last two winters and mine actually came out of winter looking too well!!!!
