My horse had colic surgery in Jan, she is now back out competing but would like to increase her for to help stamina/energy
She is currently on dobson and horrel fibregey and pink powder which is recommended by my vet, my vet says leave leave it as it is and just add some red cell

i just wonder wot other people feed there horses on

regards

Adding red cell is not going to give her any extra energy unless she is lacking in whatever is in the supplement, fibergy is just molassed chaff with added oil, it is not going to be enough on its own for most competition horses to perform well on, feeding is a minefield with so many views.
The horse I owned that had colic surgery was fed the same as my others and competed regularly post surgery, the only thing I really had to ensure was that he had access to grass every day and that the hay was fairly soft as it seemed to be more easily digested. The actual feeding was never an issue and I was given very little advice by the vets once he came home, I seem to remember giving him sugarbeet to ensure plenty of fluids were getting through to his hindgut and obviously very small amounts, little and often, I tend to feed 4 times a day if they are working fairly hard, it was many years ago so things have moved on we have many more options now but I am not sure it makes life any easier.
