Was doing a little browsing on the subject of feeding youngsters yesterday and came across an article which showed the progress of a young dartmoor pony from yearling to 2yr old, and it gave the amounts it was fed etc. I was rather shocked at just how much this pony was fed as Lukey doesn't get half of the amounts mentioned
So, my questions are 1) are the amounts below a little too much?, and 2) if not, am I underfeeding my newfie?
Amounts and type of feed given daily according to the article:-
1kg Readigrass
1kg Stud Nuts
0.5 kg Micronised barley
0.5 kg Grass nuts(dry weight)
0.5kg Sugarbeet (dry weight)
Lukey gets the following twice a day
2/3 scoop Alfa Oil
1 cup oats
1 cup Suregrow
+ recommended daily amount of Seaweed supplement.
This is a pic of him taken today
Doesn't look bad on what he gets does he? (btw, his hind confo isn't that bad, he's just standing awkwardly!
