Horse needs fattening up - I am thinking about putting oil in his feed - but how much would you start with and work up to (hes 16.1 tb x id), not overly thin, but needs more condition. I cant feed him every day either so need to make the best of what I can do.

my friend looks after my horse twice a week and i do the same for her ... so i leave all his feeds out so she just has to muck out and throw feeds in ... if u left a bucket of feed out is there anyone who could give it to him?

There is no-one else to feed him everyday. He is on part livery, but not stabled at the minute, so even if there was they would have a twenty minute trek to get him out the field, so no do-able really.

unfortunatly they couldnt do that - an almighty fight would ensue! They do bring him in for feed, but not everyday I dont think (I know this makes me sound like a silly idiot) just want to give him something myself to help him along his way.

use either corn oil or soya oil only.you can also use soya bean meal as a add to normal feed to fatten up and fenugek seeds that you can get from most indian food shops it stinks like curry but is very fattening .with out fiz

Corn Oil! I've had my TB on it on vet's recommendations after he dropped loads of weight through a nasty bout of peritonitis. Its very fattening and is supposedly the easiest of the oils to digest. Introduce slowly and build up to about 200ml a day (it's quite a lot!!). I buy it from Sainsburys as they do big bottles for about £3 - it lasts me about a week.

I've also used Bailey's Outshine which also worked a treat and you only need to feed about a mug a day to get results. :D
