Could I have some suggestions for what to feed an oldie please?
I am taking on two 30 year olds. I have been looking after them all summer for a friend. Both have managed well with just grazing and a mineral lick but the one with very few teeth began to slightly drop off a few weeks back and so I have been feeding both a fast fibre feed with added minerals and salt and linseed.
I will be taking them on properly in a week or so and want to know what is the best way to make sure the one with less teeth has enough fibre...he can't manage hay or long grass .
Do I carry on with fast fibre, bump it up with chaff or is there a good alternative? Beet? All of the above ? He'll have micronised linseed, pro balance plus and salt regardless (is that ok). Anything I should avoid?
Also worming...I suspect they are well overdue a worming. I'm thinking Panacur Equine Guard?
