My pony had a tooth extracted begining of August due to a tooth root abcess. She then had a lot of pain eating middle of September had vet back out who found the tooth abcess has spread to another tooth (this tooth is being extracted on Wednesday) she has been on a course of antibiotics and bute until the extraction.

I am hoping this will solve the problem. She ate fine between the abcesses.

I was wondering how your horses have coped eating post extraction. Could they eat as normal? Did u have to use a hay replacer?

Arion had a molar extracted about 8 weeks ago - he dropped a tremendous amount of weight prior to the extraction and for the 5 days immediately following the extraction was miserable as sin. Didn't give him a hay replacement but we had to make his feeds as sloppy as possible - he was getting alpha a, conditioning cubes with linseed and oil. His mouth healed, he still had not put weight on so I have put him on Spillers Senior Conditioning Mix and Senior Fibre with some Build and Glow and cooked linseed - hes been on it 5 days and I have noticed a marked difference already - his coat is shinier, hes looking much more filled out behind - he looked totally clapped in at one point it was horrible to see. He was still eating his hay, we were just finding undigested hay in his poo - this carried on for about a week after his extraction but stopped after that - indicating that he was now chewing properly. Hes brightened up a bit now and seems like himself more. Hope the second extraction goes well for your pony :)

Thank you! I hope she will be ok. Was eating fine right up to and after the first extraction despite how swollen and sore she was.

This time she is very sensitive. I hope it solves the problem as its a very tricky time of year as we are coming into winter.
