Hello, I was enquiring what brand you all feed your horses. I was having an absolute nightmare trying to feed my new mare i got 6 months ago. She was underweight needed topline (which would also come with correct work), muscle and she does'nt eat alot, the back of the bags where saying up to 3kg and some said 4kg! I can feed four times a day but she just couldnt tolerate eating all this. I tried EVERY feed company known apart from the one closest to me Red Mills! Dodsen and Horell sent every product they had in their range and she just looked at me when i tried them and promptly spat it out, and the rest of the companys. Then i got talking to the red mills rep and she advised Super Performer (for stallions, showjumpers etc) and i mix that with their 14% racehorse mix! all she needs is a scoop a day and LUVS it, she now whinneys at breakfast and dinner time! and for a tb cross on that food i would of expected her to be jumping around the moon and yet shes very mellow! Does anyone else feed Red mills or have a horse like this?

I swear by blue chip for condition and keeping calm at the same time. Presumably she has been wormed?

Its great that she has got her appetite back and appetite for life. At some point when she has got her condition back on, the feed will need to be reduced.

Not all TBs are hotheaded. I have known some very lazy TBs.
Bless them.

Yea i work in a racing yard and we have one thats more laid back than a cob! Its soo exepensive even though you dont need to feed alot, i tried her on that but she was having none of it. I tried topspec comprehensive and she ate that just about to build her up. She has been wormed and everything else checked and is up to weight came 3rd in her 1st working hunting last week (proud mummy). But she has never regained her appetite or ever really had one and i found the balancer made her V mellow (yes i'm complaining that she's laid back!) so i had to swap feeds for a little more oomph hunting & xc and especially showjumping (found her 'flat')
