Any suggestions for feeding a small driving pony to give him more energy without putting on weight? He currently gets minute quantity of chaff at night with a vitamin supplement and haylage which he doesn't always finish. Turnout is very limited at the minute because of the state of the fields. In summer he is out overnight and in during the day with small haylage net.
Instructor feels he is lacking in energy for the work I want him to do but he puts on weight incredibly easily! Any suggestions? He isn't a fussy eater and he isn't greedy. Current workload is about an hour a day but this will increase.
