anyone feed straw? fat cob needs to diet. can they have barley straw? i'm finding it difficult to source oat straw.

Afaik barley straw is ok. It's all we can get up here so I use it for bedding and it gets picked at...not had any problems. I think it's wheat straw which isn't so good.

I have started feeding my retired event pony Honeychop oat straw chaff as a partial hay replacement and it's been brilliant, I couldn't source oat straw so this was the alternative, she has definitely dropped weight.

started feeding the kids pony the e-feeds plain straw chop ad lib to supplement his sparse grass and soaked hay...............lost tons of weight, and is loads happier as he now feels full :)
