Popple is loving your suggestions of being fed some tuna to help her gain weight and eat more.

Thank you

It doesn't just seem to be the tuna, but also the sunflower oil that comes in the tin that makes her eat more of her biscuits (as opposed to just picking out the meat/scrambled eggs I try and mix them with for some meals).

From what I've read so far I understand sunflower oil is good for dogs, but I just wanted to check that it is ok to serve it so regularly/there's no limit on the amount you serve without any adverse side effects, so I don't do any harm. Is there anything more I should be aware of regarding adding this to her diet?

Thank you in advance

I shall take your advice and assume it is ok to keep feeding her the amount of oil that comes with a small tin of tuna as she does indeed seem to love it

Do you think a small tin of tuna per day is too great for a small but very active dog? Someone said to me they would worried about the quantity of protein it has and the effect on the kidneys...? But I am guessing it is just as natural as good quality tinned dog meat.

Spike my boxer gets a bit skinny sometimes. When he does he gets a dollop of sunflower oil in his food until his weight looks ok again.

My friend has 3 labs. When she is making the horse feeds the labs line up to get a drizzle of oil straight out of the bottle.
