I'd be reaaly interested to know what other people feed their horses. My lad on Frickers Formula which is great as it keeps the weight on and keeps him sane. However, feel i need to top this up with something else as he lacks stamina even though he can be fizzy. Past experience has shown he may be intolerant to alfalfa which rules out many......

What about an oil or rice bran feed? Lots of 'stamina' energy as opposed to 'fizz'?

Outshine by Baileys, Omega Rice by Falcon Feeds or KeyPlus by Keyflow are all aimed at providing good energy but are all slightly different ingredients.

I use KeyPlus on my TB's just now and it's working a treat, but have had good results previously with Omega Rice.

Saracen do a brilliant feed called Re-leve which is designed for horses in work, it's also recommended to be fed alongside their rice bran feed Equi-Jewel to aid stamina and good energy levels.

I use the Bluegrass Re-leve and I find it brilliant, my mare is sensitive and gets fizzy on most mixes but this is low starch and low sugar but high in oil, definitely worth a try.

Endurance horses run on oil and fat based feeds, so I don't see why they wouldn't work for an eventer.

I use soya bean oil, but corn oil is good too. Start off small, say a quarter of a cup and you can feed up to a cup in a feed.

Lots of feed companies also do rice bran based feeds now which also have a high fat content.

Sorry, not in the UK so not familiar with your brands.

Although Saracen Releve is an excellent feed for a lot of horses, one of the main ingredients is alfalfa which the OP is trying to avoid.

Dodson & Horrell ERS Pellets are a possible alternative if a compound feed is desired - it contains no alfalfa and is only 7% starch but still has 13 MJDE/kg. We use it for our daughter's horse who hunts and events and find it gives him plenty of stamina.

Was going to say Bailey's Endurance Mix but this has alfafa (we use it for our eventers, doesn't heat them up at all!).

Otherwise I would suggest oil and fat based feeds.

Which of the Frickers feeds is he on now? There competition and show mix is oil based, They have a new feed out with added linseed to help with extra stamina and energy - I have trialled it here and a rather well known Int SJ on his top horses competing abroad this winter also had it , i beleive it was at the suggestion of this SJ that they developed the new feed it was trialled under the name Tiny Tots XL but it has now been re branded I was very pleased with the results and have kept one on it. They also do a cub to help where extra energy/ stamina needed but I cant remember its name I fed it to one last summer who struggled in the heat at shows. If you would like Peter Frickers direct contact no PM me as told him about the thread when he delivered our feed yesterday and he would be very happy to dicuss what is best for you :)
