Hello there!
I was hoping someone may be able to give me a bit of advice, I have a 25 year old cob gelding who has really struggled to keep his weight this winter (he looks bloody awful) however I'm unsure of what to feed him as he is laminitic prone and with it being so close to spring I'm unsure of what to do, should I leave him to tick over until the spring kicks in or? I'm at a loss! He is still his happy self and is completely fine in every other aspect, it's just this! Any suggestions are welcomed, thank you!

I have just had a similar with my 26 year old and went straight to vet check, full bloods, ACTH test. A few things came up which I have dealt with and he is now on half a Prascend a day. I had him on a sub 10% sugar/starch diet anyway but have increased the volume (bearing in mind Spring is Springing) and upped the linseed. I have started him Equimins Advance Complete as an all round pick me up and the combned treatment seems to be working as he looks much better.

In his youth I would let him 'try a bit harder' with the grass until Christmas to give him that seasonal downtime but that is not the way to manage him now he is an old man.
