Hello all -
I am looking into increasing the energy level of feeding for my horse. He is a ID x TB (shown below), 16hh, 14yrs old, a "do gooder" and has access to ample good grazing and is shut in at night to stop him getting too fat! when in, he gets a small haynet. He starts of lessons/events full of energy (sometimes too much!) and then his levels die off. He is fit ( ridden 6 days a week, mix of lessons, hacks, hill work and events) and has no known medical issues.
He is currently on cool mix and haymix, no more than a scoop of feed when all mixed together. In the summer he does alot of events from jumpcross to ODEs and on hot days in particular he gets tired towards the end. I am looking to start feeding him on a slow release energy mix. I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations on feeds to try and amounts? Also, he tends not to drink away from home and was wondering if there was anything out there to help with this?
Thanks
