I am posting for a friend. She has an underweight warmblood who is prone to laminitis and is needing some advice on what to feed. She has contacted all the major feed companies but is waiting to hear back. Does anyone have any advice on what to feed?

sugar free bulk! fast fibre seems to condition them but not upset the feet but i would question why the horse was underweight and lamanitic? does it have a metabolic disorder? has she run bloods and talked to her vet? what is driving the laminitis?

will tell her about fast fibre. basically the previous owners had seriously overfed him and he had mild laminitis. She doesnt understand what they must have fed him as she is struggling to keep the weight on. he is currently on calm and condition and mollichaff extra. i think the vet is coming out next week so fingers crossed they can get the correct diet

I have a laminitic who's a bad doer. I bought her last year, underweight & have fed her on two meals a day of Alpha beet & alpha A oil. (Scoop of SOAKED Alphabeet & scoop of Alpha A oil.) Neither contains mollasses, which is important for a laminitic. She looks much better now, but is still a bit light.

She is out at grass, but on a well grazed paddock. I am about to get to get her blood tested to see if she has EMS.

Simple Systems feeds are also suitable, being based on Alfalfa & unmollassed sugar beet. Give them or Dengie a call, they are very helpful.
