Feeding & Worming New Horse

Hello there!
I'm hopefully collecting a new horse later this week (fingers crossed for vetting!!!), he's very green at the moment but the plan is to turn him into a bit of an all-rounder - amateur show-jumping, low level eventing and riding club type stuff 😊
I'm slightly out of the swing of things having had a couple of horse-free years and relied on full livery for a few years before that so I'm hoping someone on here might be able to point me in the right direction! 😊
Firstly, feed. He's not in work at the moment and is just on ad-lib haylage. I would plan to have him living out, there's not much grass just now but there's a big round bale of haylage always in the field. If I give him a balancer would this be sufficient, or so you think he would need some hard feed as well once he starts work?
Also, worming. I'll be worming him as soon as he arrives and keeping him in for a couple of days. Is there any particular type of wormer I should/shouldn't be using for this?

If his keeping his weight and has enough energy for whatever you want to do a balancer should be fine, I would ask the previous owner when he was last wormed and with what if you still wanted to worm anyway spring is the time to worm for tape worm a double dose of pyratape p will do that.

I've just got a new 5yo, and my vets advice was to worm with Equest pramox.

He's in at night, so being fed with grass chaff, fast fibre and a handful of nuts. To be evaluated once he settles in fully.

I'd say chaff and balancer would be a good option too though.
