I am currently feeding my yearling as the grass is quite poor so he gets unmolassed beet and some stud nuts as a little top up.

I have been reading about yea sacc and keep wondering if I should be feeding him to keep his tummy tip top. Is this just a waste of money though when I don't have any reason to think there is a problem with his tummy?!

I only feed it if I think there is a problem - a poor doer who never seems to get the most from what he eats, or one of the others if they get the runs. Or if I have to feed antibiotics which will deplete the gut bacteria. Otherwise, so long as their diet isn't overdosed on sugars their bacteria are able to maintain their own health. Won't do any harm but might well be a waste of money at this stage.
