feeding yougsters

Never had a young horse before so what do you feed a cob type that is rising three? I have always fed top spec balancer is this suitable, Are there feeds that encourage growth etc. Know you can get feeds for veterans.

when i first got my 3yr cob x tb she was on mare n youngstock mix. have got her off that now and just on 2 scoops of chop with a handful of carrots and adlib hay. shes not in much work atm so that has kept her through winter. In fact she has put loadsa weight on !!!!!!!!

Give the feed manufacturers a ring, they wll give you good advice, if based only on their products, and you should be able to make an informed decision from that.

I feed buckeye grow and win, sorry can't remember who makes it off the top of my head, but it's great and I have Highlands, so don't feed loads of hard feed, but a little goes a long way with a ''cob''.
