feeding youngsters

I was wondering if any one could help me, i am taking on a youngster soon, and i was wondering if someone could help me with what i should be feeing. He is 2, rising 3 in may. He has not been fed anything as of yet he has just been turned out and having having in the winter months. I beleive that he should have had hard feed as a yearling but i am slighlty unsure?! i was wondering what would be good to start feeding him on and any supplements i.e. limestone powder?! any help would be brill thanks

i have had one of my horses since he was 5 months old and i just fed her pasture mix, mollichop and sugabeet. never had any probs with her and shes 15 yrs old now
 
I got my 3 year old in april and she had never had hard feed before, she isn't backed yet and is being fed baileys no14 lo-cal feedbalancer and mollichaff. the balancer has got all the vits etc that they should be having, aswell as stuff for good feet growth and yeast-stuff for good digestion etc. I've found it brilliant as my mare was in a poor condition when i got her and feet a mess, but now shes stunning (if i may say so myself), i was going to give her extra chaff and speedibeet this winter to fill her up more when its cold. hope this helps.x
 
Thanks very much, i have used baileys in the past and found them good as actually do what they say on the packet!! he has poor feet too so thats great! thanks x

Chancer is my gypsy cob - from 15 months to 2 years he had alfa a lite and hi-fi lite, black sunflower seeds and highlife cubes in his ball in winter plus little speedibeet in winter. He had equimins youngstock supplement and adlib hay.

From 2 until now - he is now 31/4 he has had Simple Systems green gold alfa a and lucie stalks plus black sunflower seeds, instant linseed and brewyers yeast. He gets speedibeet in winter and ad lib hay.

He has grown very well on this and has looked in wonderful condition, doing very well at showing.

He has not had any hard feed and always been fed a fibre diet and I intend to keep him this way.
