Hey there, i am doing an assignment on feeds, i need to compare ways of stroing feeds, design a feed room and compare ways of giving the horse its feed so id love to know how you guys do this and what equipment you use and why, eg plastic feed bins/galvanized feed bins/plastic buckets/rubber buckets etc.
Also if any of you have lush feed rooms you'd liek to send me pics of id love to see them.
Thanx x x x

Hello.

Feed being used is stored in Galvanised bins. Stored feed is kept in a purpose built room non accessible to mice.

Horses are fed out of rubber buckets.

Hope that helps.

Feed is stored in galvanised bins to keep out vermin. The horses are fed from plastic tub trugs - I like these because (so far) they are indestructible, won't hurt the horses if they tread on them, and are quite deep so less food chucked on floor.

My feed is kept in plastic feed bins in the tack room at the back of my stable, the disadvantage of this is that if you left the door to the room open then there is the risk of the horse having unlimited access to the feed (which I have know this to happen on another yard, horse ate half a bin of unsoaked sugarbeet, got colic and died). I keep mine at the far end with a large crate infront of them so he cant get to them (I do keep the door securely shut at all times though). The rooms are not large enough for my 16.3 to get in them

He is fed from those small rubber tub trug things, I feed from these because they are safe, if he stands on them they just bend and reduces the risk of his foot becoming stuck.

my feed is stored in plastic heavy duty dustbins, and i feed both mine out of rubber feed bowls.

i have a mouse free secure feedroom where it is all stored!!
