Feeds for the fizzy!!

Hi all, am in need of some help here! I have a 6yo ish who is really prone to fizzy/stressy behavior. Last year i fed Calm and condition (allen and page) as he needed to maintain condition-he drops easily due to getting his knickers in a knot!) and hi-fi original, had to change to hifi lite and speedibeet as he went potty and was almost unrideable, but his weight dropped.He has adlib hay and grass all day and is out for approx 9-10hrs a day. I need to find something to keep his condition and weight without the cranky behavior!! Please help! (he also has pink powder and magnesium supps)

Have decided to only trace clip this winter as hunter clip seemed to make him worse!! Any other suggestions greatly appreciated!

Should add, he has been fully vet/osteo/saddler checked etc...its just the winter that he becomes a pain in the .....!!
 
Hi, Your boy sounds as though he may well be related to my mare:D

I'm no expert but I feed Winergy Equilibrium Conditioning in winter and the Low Energy in the Summer, and have been really pleased the result.
It's low in sugar and starch, both are thought to be a contributory factors in excitable behaviour.

It's not cheap if you feed it in the quantities they recommend, but mine has good grazing (out 7am until 4pm) and has light work, I haven't found it necessary to feed her as much as they say.
 
I found winergy hotter mine up(but then most food does!) I use top spec cool cubes,speedibeet,linseed & spillers conditioning fibre on my poor doer, easily wound up horse. Have also just introduced ERS pellets & he can cope with spillers slow release cubes as well. You want to aim to feed low/no cereal,low starch, high fibre & high oil diets with horses like these.
 
believe it or not i fed instant energy mix to my highly strung mare because of the high calorie content and also alfa a original and speedi beat and ad lib haylage, she kept her weight on fine with this but anythign different she would drop off dramatically. she was in heavy work at the time though.
