Cos I've cancelled taking horses to dressage tonight, due to the huge 60 mph winds here on north Wales Coast, and the driving rain. Got two sad teenagers but horses and kids safety most important. I was worried about falling trees and the lorry being blown over.

My sister cancelled her jumping lesson because we didn't want to take the trailer out in this, you're not alone!

DW im not even brave enough to ride at home in this, we have tress along one lenght of our school and the wind whips up them fields so no chance, my mare hates the wind

Common sensical - not a wuss... I've given up riding for a few weeks til the weather improves - I work for myself I can't afford to end up in a cast and just think how much you'd be regretting going if your wagon / trailer tips over... not worth the risk

Very wise IMO.

I'm also in the red warning area. The wind started at 3pm approx and a tree has already come down. The gust are so strong (up to 70mph here), there's no way I'd take horses in a lorry or trailer, it's just too dangerous.

i went out in a dry patch last night for my lesson, whilst i was having lesson (indoors) its snowed! Had to get back with trailer in the snow....not fun!

Definately not a wuss! Why should the rescue services have to come out to pick up the bits of a foreseeable accident? Very good common sense in my opinion and perhaps the dressage should be cancelled to prevent those with less common sense making a mistake?

I can''t imagine why anyone would risk it today, it's badenough trying to keep tarps pn hay and straw, loading, travelling aand unloading makes me feel quite ill!

Errrrrrr OP far from being a wuss you are showing commonsense. I have just driven 15 mins doging wheelie bin, boxes and branches. So a wise wise move x

One of my liveries can't get through as a tree has just come down at the end of our lane, and news just said over 60 roads blocked in Shropshire due to flooding and fallen trees........

Think you would have been insane for even contemplating it!

Definitely not a wuss. I withdrew from a the dressage last weekend because I didn't want the trailer going over in the wind. The problem with dressage is that the entries have to be in a week in advance but you can only get a 5 day forecast.
