Arrgggghhh I have 2 down with laminitis this weekend.
One - the little pony is always susceptible and consequently is on minimum grazing, soaked hay no hard feed etc but has rubbish shallow feet with thin soles and gets foot sore very easily. Only reason we can think is he has impaction/stress laminitis from the hard rutted ground.
Two - 16hh mare - no reason what so ever except that we suspect she has cushings. Up until now she hasnt shown a lot of symptoms apart from pot bellied, bit of muscle wastage, lethargic, slightly thicker coat and she has been on herbal supplements. Vet has now put her on pergolide so we will see what happens.
Least they are keeping each other company on box rest but the others are just standing at the gate screaming as they havent got their mates with them!!! Its doing my head in!
I know a lot of us are have horses suffering at the moment sorry I just needed to vent! How long do you think I will have 2 on box rest and 3 screaming at the gate???
