feel sorry for my horse

with all the snow abd ice that we have here in italy my horse has had to stay inside. as outside its so slippy . i feel sorry for her on her own and feel i have to go and see her every hour or so . this though is becoming a bit of a stress for me as i have loads of other things to be getting on with. if i dont go to her often i feel bad. me with a problem or my horse?
how many hours a day do other horse owners keeping their horse at home pass with their horse

How come you can't turn her out? Ours were out all throughout the bad snow we had here. I couldn't keep them in all the time it's not fair.

Can you not do anything to combat the icy bits - ie put grit/straw down etc?

a few days ago i let her in the field and a stick that was frozen in the snow made a puncture wound in her fetlock. bled badly . this is why she's having to stay in and she also goes mad when i let her out gallopping about, she's an ex race horse and only 5 so i have to be careful with her in bad weather.

Well being an x race horse she will be used to staying in for most of the time except an hour or so for excersise. As long as she is warm dry clean and has plenty to munch on she wil be fine.
a few things you could do to keep her occupied are :
Treat ball filled with yummy treats
Hide carrots around her bed and in haynet
Hang apples and carrots threaded through baler twine around the stable this will keep her occupied
lickit or similar?? Im sure therw are a lot of horses out there worse off than yours
