Sorry for bringing a downer on things this evening chaps but I feel rather down and upset. I have the vet out for my boy today and he definitly has a sarcoid under his belly as initially feared. The tests are being sent to an expert in Liverpool then he will instruct treatment - a cream I think - which will take ages to resolve. I am in the process of selling and have a few people that were interested who have now vanished. I feel sorry for my boy - its like a big rejection for him. Poor thing. I hope this won't be too bad for him (or me).

Humph :(

That's a shame as you are trying to sell him. My horse had a couple and the vet looked at him and said, "well we can always turn up upside down and cut them off" or just leave them and see what happens. Horse was not impressed at the thought of being turned upside down (hasten to add vet was only joking) so we left them and they never changed. I imagine that was about 10 years. I hope it is good news with your boy.

He wont know hes been rejected or on what grounds.Friends horse had sacroids and successfully removed. Not always bad news cheer up:D:p

Chin up :)
A friend's mare had one on the top of her leg (on the inside) and she was being told in shows that its presence was affecting her results - it was like you say a bit like rejection! :(
Its certainly a shame people are being put off by it. We used the cream for a while and the sarcoid, all of a sudden, seemed to disappear!
Try not to worry - it will be resolved! Good luck selling him and I hope you find the right person :)

Sorry to hear that you are feeling upset. It's understandable especially as it is not a great time to find out that your ned has sarcoids, if you are trying to sell.

My boy has sarcoids. He had them when I got him 10 years ago. They haven't moved, grown, worsened or been treated in all that time. (I think his previous owners tried to treat them before we got him as there's an exclusion on his insurance).

I'm sure whatever you and your vet decide to do works out & you find a nice new home for him :)

Know exactly how you feel mine got 4 last year and not just little ones, had them removed with the cream took the pictures and they got sent off to liverpool the cream took a bout 6 week to remove but the bigs ones took ages to fall off completely, was going to sell him this year now he has another one, he wasn't very salable in the first place.

At least you had people interested in your horse lol people seem to reject mine when the see TB

My friend bought one 2 years ago with sarcoids, never bothered him and it's a home for life. As long as you are honest and price him fairly somebody will want him and give him a lovely home, good luck lo xxx
