not even 6 months ago my mum brought me a new saddle. it was brand new, £1400 and lovely. at first it was great, pony was fab and i was sooo comfy.
but....
i think i must have grown or something. recently i just cannot ride it in. i just feel unbalanced, and like im sitting on the cantle. i think i need a bigger saddle, but having a pony and being almost adult sized myself i cant get anything bigger for his sake :( feel awful and guilty, as i think i need to sell it, and it was a LOT of money for my amazing mum. especially since we wouldnt get the same amount back.
what would you do? sell or put up with it?

if i do sell im considering a treeless saddle. a barefoot one to be precise. they say to select a size based on you as it doesnt really affect the horse because theres no pressure at the back!

i just dont know what to do...feel quite terrible and emotional right now. poor mum spends everything she has on us and i feel so ungrateful! AAAHHHH ponies are so frustrating some times! :'(
 
Get a good saddle fitter out. It might just need the stuffing adjusting. Or your pony might have put on or lost weight. Any of these can unbalance it and make you uncomfortable and are sometimes easily fixed.
 
thats the problem...had it checked, flocking sorted, saddler has seen me ride, checked pony, etc etc. no difference :( i just done feel like i fit it. more like i perch on top.
 
Aww, I agree get a saddle fitter out and see if anything can be done (i guess you may have to break the news to mum first) if they can't do anything a 1400 pound saddle should have some decent part exchange options. What size is the saddle? You may be able to go bigger than you think depending on the design of the saddle. My haffy has a short back but saddle fitter still said 17.5 would be fine in the saddle I chose. Maybe you will be able to swap for a second hand version of the same saddle but bigger, who knows!
 
Ah just saw your post, maybe you could speak to the saddle fitter again and see if you can get it valued, hopefully you won't have to spend more than that and at least your mum won't have to shell out more cash.
