Feeling defeated

MY poor mare has had such a rubbish time and we were just getting somewhere and she was looking really really well after lots of vets and chiropractors but she came up lame on Sunday with a bad foot abscess and has lost all the weight we worked so hard to get on her she looks really bad again and my heart is breaking for her!! has anyone else's horse lost a lot of weight due to foot abscess?

My chestnut mare is very easily put off her food and pain would definitely have an impact on her weight, especially in winter. I hope the abscess resolves quickly.

we spent the last 9 months getting her to a good healthy weight if not a bit little fat and she was living out, but this abscess coupled with having to be in a stable really seems to have taken it out of her!! the abscess is pretty much gone now its just waiting for the hole to heal then get her back out!! its just so horrible to see her looking like a hat rack again she is still gulping down her feed but not that interested in her hay.
