I am now wanting to take on a new horse to do something with but whilst I am the only one working and on really rubbish wages I feel I can't, I have my mare still and am getting so upset that she's broken still...am now looking at getting chiro to look at her, she's too small for me to ride really although she will take me no probs at all, I love her dearly and really want to be able to keep her but on other hand I really feel I want another bigger horse in my life as since my lad was PTS I have a massive void in my horsey life and I hate it getting really misserable by the day wishing i could have something to ride and love, was even thinking of finding loan horse but this would mean I would have to re-home Minnie but cant do that til she's healed up so i'm in catch 22 really I wish I could afford to keep her too or at least have a lovely family have her on loan either full or part to stay where she is would be even better for her and me.

I am probably sounding really pathetic with this post but it is really starting to effect me I miss having another horse around esp riding and going to shows etc generally having fun, but I don't know how I am going to get around this....

Pointless self indulgent post but just needed to get it off my chest...

Oh Kezz Poor you. It's early days after Merlin & no wonder you feel down. Could you not look for someone who wants help exercising horses? That way you'd be back riding & maybe competing? Could you put Minnie on grass livery somewhere until she is better. It's very hard when the fun factor is gone entirely and you are having a particularly hard time at the mo. Hope you feel better soon x

I have thought about asking if someone just wants a rider but dont think these days anything like that exsits does it? Mins can't be on grass livery she loses too much weight and cond in winter and she's back on box rest she's a proper puff bless her but heart of gold!
I have come to terms (just) with Merls and he wouldn't want me to be all unhappy and I haven't ridden since him really that was about 4 months ago maybe?
just dont know what direction to go in at the mo...

Oh Kezz I do feel sorry for you, it's no fun at the moment, having just lost Merlin, and Minnie being broken, and not especially liking the job and money, which in turn makes it hard to move on as I'm sure it feels as though everything is stopping you Doing Something Else to make life better. However chin up I'm sure something nice must be just around the corner.

Barneykins idea is a good one, I'll keep an eye out for a horsie needing exercise, but could you try an advert in the tack shops? I'm sure there must be people need horses exercising while they're at work in the winter, and maybe they won't want money or chores even but just the horsie ridden. I will keep an eye on the papers / tack shops locally.

I seem to have missed your posts about what exactly is wrong with Minnie but I hope she's better soon, sorry don't know a chiropracter for her.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks guys I am actually OK I just want to move on and have another horse in my life aswell as moose but it's going to take some time I guess.

I'd be very happy just to go and ride someone's horse for them even just a little hack about things like that i am missing and generally having fun with them, but i'm sure soon as moose is fixed I can start having fun on her too...she's a strong little pony but i love her for it lol

Ask around, you never know they may be someone in your area looking for a competant rider to help with exercising their horse.

There are honestly people out there that need this and i say this with experience as i have been looking for someone to exercise my daughters horse whilst she is studying hard with A Levels. We don't want to sell him i just needed someone to help with rides/jobs etc as i have my own horse and work.

Hopefully, i have found someone now but if i was looking then other people may be too.

Edited to say that i wasn't looking for any financial contribution just some help !!!

Also, i would never has advertised i found out about this person through word of mouth.

Good luck and keep you chin up, there will be something around the corner.

thanks mahoganybay...hopefully there will be someone out there in my area that would like a rider just so i dont loose touch til i get a new one.
glad you have found someone and hope they turn out to be great for you!!
