Feeling completely drained with the weather recently. Horses still not out everyday due to soaking wet fields, 2 events have already been cancelled for April the way we are going we aren't going to get a run until June at this point (if it ever stops raining).
I feel like I am trying my absolute best with trying to get the horses out, my gates are muddy but the rest of the field seems to be holding up ok - they started drying up a bit with the high winds but mild days we had this weekend but low and behold it rained last night and we are back to square one. There is a yellow weather warning for rain tomorrow too (ugh).
I am trying to make sure the horses get out as much as possible with getting ridden, turned out in the school and hand grazed.
It is mega depressing that this time last year they were all out on summer turnout :(

Surely it can only get better.......

Feel your pain. I’ve managed to keep mine fairly fit. Poo picking in the rain so I can ride as soon as it stops - or not! But now events are cancelled so all for nothing.

It's grim. My winter field really needs the horses off it to recover but I'm sinking ankle deep everywhere else still.

No useful hacking because the mud is so deep which means no one is fit (except me from pushing barrows through mud....)

I think all horse and pony owners are struggling to some extent this winter.
I have hung up my riding boots so not struggling to fit in riding ( mine are 24 25and 19, ) I have found the way for me to cope is to do what I HAVE to do and forget about any extras like working on the fields rolling harrowing muck spreading or fencing repair that isn't essential until the weather has improved ( when ever that may be)
We will get through this horse owners are resilient and the grass will bounce back it always does .Set up a routine that you can cope with and keep plodding on.
KEEP GOING WE CAN DO THIS.

Also feeling fed up and in need of a moan, my pony has had to come in again after managing a decent few weeks living out but he had a lameness work up last week and had contrast injected into his ligaments so has been fully clipped and shaved and with sensitive skin he’s at high risk for mud fever so he’s back in 24/7 again which means mucking out x2 daily, nets, water and all the jobs and no chance of riding him now for months until he has his surgery and hopefully successfully completes his recovery plan. Hubby and family think I’m bonkers shelling out hundreds every month on a hobby that I can’t even do currently and I have to say that for the first time in 12 months I’m beginning to question myself?
