Due to finishing college late, extra work and a college trip, i haven't got to the yard before 6 at all this week. This isn't unusual and happens most weekdays, and I am used to being last at the yard, arriving once everyone's gone/is leaving (everyone else seems to be able to be at the yard before it gets dark, except me  ), but I haven't ridden at all this week.
This is partly due to the fact I've currently got 2 broken toes (thanks to my wonderful horse placing his foot none to lightly on mine on Sunday  ) so all tasks involving walking take 2x as long when you're hobbling! meaning I don't have as much time..and partly because I just can't find the energy/motivation to tack up etc in the freezing cold just for a mooch around in the school as it's too frozen to do anything other than walk :(
So basically Mon, Tues and Wed I've just got C out of his stable (as I finish late, the other liveries bring him in for me and he stands in his stable with some haylage til I arrive- sounds silly but I don't like it, wish I could be doing the bringing in, as he's my horse and I want to do everything :o ), mucked out etc, take off rug and a quick groom and carrot stretches (both of which he loves as he is very sociable!), rug back on and bung in stable for night with feed. :(
I feel bad as he is a fairly fit TB who gets bored easily- although he seems alright, very cheerful and not grumpy/irritable, and he is out 7.30am til 4pm every day (and from what the other liveries tell me, appears to have been exercising himself fairly adequately by racing around his paddock :o ). I've cut his feed and increased his haylage this week, so he basically currently gets only fibre in the hope that it'll keep him sane for when I do get back on!!

Sorry this is pointless and moany. Just getting a bit annoyed at not having much time with my boy during the week, and annoyed at myself for not using the time i DO have, to ride! :o

Yes, I feel terrible that mine haven't been ridden since this weather set in due to unsafe conditions. I feel awful about it and worry but then try to tell myself - what's the point? What can I do? Today I did walk them out for an hour in hand and boy the TB was a livewire. Will have to be very careful when I get back on her!!

Oh my this sounds like me at the mo.....I came off on Saturday and twisted my knee getting back up, so am walking like a peg leg at the mo....I too don't get to the yard until 6 most week nights....I am lucky enough to have an indoor school (be it a small one) so as I can't bend my knee very weel (so can't ride) I have been lunging, loose schooling and even just 'playing' in the indoor school...but yes I do feel guilty because I don't want him getting bored!! But there's not alot I can do about it at the mo.......so am just holding out for the 16th when I break up for the Christmas hols!! (I'm a TA not a child!! :))
