Feeling Guilty

New girly is out in this weather (rugged up)
I know she'll be fine but..... anyone elses out in it? Feeling guilty...

Mine are all out, out last night too!! It's not cold, just wet and windy, so don't worry

I've got 2 out, rugged up, I am sure they will be fine, they have a snug field shelter they can go and hibernate in

not feeling too guilty about it

the ones that are out are native though

Mine are out and I don't feel guilty at all. In fact, I'd feel more guilty if they were stuck in a stable.

I used to feel guilty when my horse was stabled...

I feel much happier now he's out 24/7, being a horse

and they're horses...

i've just got my horses in, to be honest they seemed happier in the field where doors weren't banging, and wheelbarrows werent pushing themselves across the yard!

My boy is fully clipped though, so think it may get too cold for him out in the field as theres not much shelter.

I've got one in and one out unrugged.

The one that is in is more worried about the banging and wind noises, the one that is out is sheltered in the hedge line asleep!

I was worried about Scooby all night - he's out in a field with no natural shelter, just a couple of wooden windbreaks, and he's fully clipped. He does have his snug turnout rug on, but even so I'd've been happier to know he was tucked up nice and warm in a stable. Still, I can't afford to go all bunny-hugging on him!

Mine are in. I would prefer them to be out but my paddock is not secure enough to leave them out all night......one day.

Well, to make you feel better - I don't actually have the option of 24/7 turnout in the winter - so he has to come in.

But it would be my choice to have him in, in any case.

But as with another thread that's running at the moment on turning out in the rain - it's personal choice. Clipped and out during the winter months overnight would not work for me and certainly not my horse. However, for others it may

Topsy is a 14.2hh connemara and a v good doer she can cope.... she doenst live out 24/7 but she doesnt start coming in until december...

mine are out, rugged, warm and happy. I too would be feeling slightly guilty if they were in as I know they would rather be out... whatever the weather!

I have four out with no rugs, just the TB is rugged and in at night. My cob has grown a lovely think coat and if you dig your fingers into it he is totally dry and warm. Would have the TB out too but he does tend to jump fences, so it's safer that he comes in at night.

Actually, most cattle are wintered in barns. So they don't need rugs
