He was supposed to come home last weekend but although he had passed a 5 stage and xrays I wanted my own vetting done for peace of mind, which he passed on wednesday.

I think the reason Im nervous is becasue of my last mare, she was totally missold to me and just caused me a lot of heartache, turned out to be anthing but a quiet confidence giver, how my poor novice OH still wants to ride after her is beyond me!

We have tried the new boy numerous times and he is perfect for us, I suppose its just the memory of her that makes me nervous, if that makes sense, probably not LOL

I had the same with my new mare, felt very nervous riding her cos of the mare I had just sold, who really scared me and knocked my confidence. Alisha is absolutely fantastic though, and I am so pleased I sold my old one and bought her! I'm sure you will have great fun with your new horse, he sounds fantastic from the description

Damnit St_Bernard, dont be so nervous! We talked about this at length and he sounds absolutly perfect for you!

I am still of the opinion that he will do wonders for both yours and your OH's confidence (make sure you get some use out of him too!)

Keep us posted and enjoy the weekend - You'll be fine and he'll be fabulous!

Congrats, I am sure you will be fine, especialy as you seem to have taken your time. When you are looking for a horse its so easy to feel presurised into buying, epecial as decent horses get snapped up so quickly. I wish you and the OH lots of luck.

Thank you everyone!

LOL Tierra, I know I know Im just stupid!!

nomini yes Im kind of the same, mind you I feel totally fine riding him, I just have silly visions of him being a loony when he comes home! ha ha daft I know, I just loved that last mare so much, and it was heartbreaking letting her go even though she was totally not as described.

Yes Magic thats exactly what we didnt want to do, we have actually spaced it out over a month to make sure he is the right one for us, there was no way I was being rushed into buying the wrong horse. Im just having silly last minute nerves I think!

Amy, Ginger, Paris, thank you, I just needed someone to tell me to stop being daft and enjoy it!

Ha ha dont worry you will be getting eye strain from all the pics come monday!!

Aaaaaw. You arent being stupid, its quite natural given your experiences with the mare. Never the less, he's a different case all together and he knows what he's doing

Im sure he's going to look after you and the confidence will come after you've had him a while.

I was exactly the same with my horse. My mare was lovely but a bit of a nightmare and a constantly assumed he was going to be the same or act the same. I had lots of lessons in the first month or so just to try and get some confidence in him and stop assuming that stupid things that would upset my mare would upset him.

I now trust him 110% and he's the best thing that ever happened to me. Im sure you're going to be saying the same in a few months and just think of all he can teach you! You'll have the best summer ever, im sure of it.

Thank you Tierra I really hope so!

got a couple of pics of him this summer, excuse 'stretched' look, from a DVD!

Thank you!

ha ha my mum saw a pic of him now in winter and said, oh he looks like a hawkers horse, he is a bit scruffy isnt he!! er thanks mum! (totally none horsey BTW)

He hasnt been in work since July and has a super thick winter coat, looks like a guinea pig LOL.

I am sure you will be fine. It may be a good idea to get some lessons booked so you can build your confidence back up on a nice horse. With an instructor at foot you will feel so much better.

Bare in mind the new horse will be alert to new surroundings and need a little different and strange for a day or two. They soon settle down and hopefully you have some nice friends to hack out with and start to enjoy your riding.

he he, can't wait to see more piccies. I am so happy for you.
GOOD LUCK
By the way he is so very handsome, but i told you that before, and i guess you knew that anyway
Keep us posted
