tomorrow my daughter's new pony is being vetted and if he passes I am bringing him straight home!

Daughter is terrified he won't pass the vet and she won't be able to have him. She adores him already and she's only seen him twice! Have to admit he's a sweetie and I'm looking forward to getting him too.

I'm nervous about the drive home though. If you told me to load up our current pony and drive 70 miles up the motorway with him I wouldn't bat an eyelid - but an unknown pony? I'm a bit scared. My OH can't come with me and so my daughter is having the day of school (sssshhhh) to come. Seller says the pony will go straight in the trailer and will travel fine but you never know.

Anyway, pony is irish, 6 yrs, blanket appaloosa and 14.2. He seems to be quite a 'people' pony - wanted to stand right next to us all the time we were viewing him.

Of course unfortunately this means that our lovely current pony will have to be sold within the next few months - if you know anyone who might be interested PM me for more details.

Anyway, send good vibes for the vetting and for the journey tomorrow and I will post pics soon.

Thanks.

Good vibes to you. Im sure he'll be fine. Think positive and im sure everthing will be ok. Was he bred in Ireland? If so he had to travel over here and survived it!!!!

I must admit I felt the same when we loaded Thumper up. I had asked what he was like to load - but didn't actually ask whether he travelled well (duh!). He was no problem at all.

Positive vibes for the vetting!

I'm sure he'll be fine - most are better on a continuous stretch without lots of turns anyway....good luck - and post pics! x

WE ARE HOME with the new boy.

The vetting was great - the only negative thing she could find was that his pasterns are a little upright. He also has slightly capped hocks but I had noticed that already.

He walked straight into the trailer and ate the hay all the way home. Fantastic.

He's now having some quiet time in the stable with hay and has been wormed. He can't go out to meet the other ponies for 24 hrs.

Later on we will go back and daughter is going to ride her existing pony and hopefully the 2 can have a sniff at each other over the door as on Sunday or Monday they will be turned out together.

Got to organise some tack tomorrow.

So excited - pics coming soon.

Hurrah! What a relief for you. Hope the new horse settles in quickly and turns out to be as nice and friendly as when you saw him before. Look forward to the photos.
