Going to have a second look at a horse tonight, all going well will be looking to purchase him.
Horse was found through word of mouth & was bred by the owner (who is actually the ex-gf of the chap who recommended him to me) so full history is known, I can have access to his vet records etc (I also use the same vets they do) Horse is fairly hardy, always lived out & until last winter never wore a rug, certainly hasn't ever worn boots for riding etc and bar a foot absess has always been healthy (touch wood)
But I keep thinking if I do have him I just want to wrap him up in bubble wrap, have him stabled at night in winter, put boots on etc, not do anything strenuous & I'm getting really paranoid he's going to break. I think this comes from my own horse who I had for a year before he was a write off from the vets & is currently having a 'last summer' (8 years later)
Please some-one give me a kick up the ar$e and tell me to stop being neurotic & that he does not need to be wrapped in cotton wool & I won't break him riding him without boots or keeping him living out! (I've never put boots on current horse & he lives out too so why it's different with a new one I don't know as I love current one dearly!)
