I think it's come to the time to make the decision for our old family dog. He's 16 and has been deteriorating - more rapidly of late - and this morning my dad had to help him get up. Health wise he's not bad at all but his back legs are starting to fail, he's having more accidents in the house and, really isn't 'him' any more. Ultimately he's mum and dad's dog but we've had him 16 years so since I was a teenager so to not have him around will be strange. The vet is coming at 2pm and I doubt they will suggest any other option. :-( So far this month has not been good as we lost our old horse just over a week ago :-(
Writing this down in the hope it'll stop me crying as I am at work so can't be there :-(

I am so sorry xxx We had to get our beautiful boy PTS on friday. He was almost 13 and although he'd had his ailments, he was bright and happy but just suddenly went downhill.

We are all heartbroken but he had an amazing long life with us and focusing on all the happy times we had has helped me get through it.

Thinking of you today xx

It is - but any sadness you feel only for yourself - that's what I keep reminding myself.

Your dog had a fab life and was loved and spoiled for 16 years - not many dogs have this xx

Its a horrible decision to make and I understand how you feel, when they have been part of the family for so long it does make it harder because of the history you all shared.

As Beaubear said focus on the good times, he has reached a wonderful age and Im sure thats down to your families love and care. xx

Thinking of you all at this really difficult time. Just remember, this is the final act of love you can show him.. Great big hugs to you all...
