I arrived at my yard this morning to find that one of my horses who had been left out in a paddock on his own last night was in with 2 of my others. The gate was still secured and I really can't think that he would have jumped it, he's far too lazy and quite happy on his own. I found my headcollar in the field with my other horse who was also on his own. I just feel so sick to think that someone may have gone in and moved my horses in the night. I have my own yard, so it's only my horses there.

Thats quite a worry, i suppose these lighter nights encouge kids to mess about. A few years ago i use to be on a big livery yard not far from an estate and some of the kids us to mess with the horses, 1 lad even got on and was bucked of and we had the parents round complaining. I would try and tighten security and get some big geese as guard they can be quite agressive and may put people of messing, hope you get it sorted .

Thanks. I thought it was probably kids too, so you have re-assured me a bit. I am going to lock all the headcollars etc away in the tack room. I have been out and bought a driveway alarm too today. Quite tempted to camp out there tonight though!!

padlock the gate. someone added our new horse on one side of the fence to our established herd by opening the gate. luckily no one was injured but a massive chain and heavy padlock put the little darlings off. they only steal tarpaulins, buckets, ropes, tyres etc now!!
