Having posted last week about my IDxTB having lesions to SDFT, he has now given himself a huge slice to his fetlock, sustained whilst in a small, seemingly flat, hazard free paddock.
And yes, the same leg that has the lesions.....

Vet has seen and he's on antibiotics as a precaution, keep dressed, clean etc.

Whilst carrying out his dressing change Friday PM he was leaping and flying about all over the place, struggling to do this on my own was a nightmare, being booted and shoved in to next week.

I noticed the top layer of vet wrap had the teeniest of ridges but regrettably left it as was as we had both been battling for enough time as it was, on removing the dressing Saturday he now has a big old lump on his cannon bone and a fat leg. I know it is from the bandaging and not the wound and it is all my doing!! I now feel terrible!!

Any advice on what to do? Keep it dressed but better padding and cold hose etc or am I best to try and remove all but a very light dressing on the wound? I just feel I can't win with him at the moment it is one thing after another.

I think I would just dress the wound with as little as possible to cover it rather than continue to bandage the whole leg, it goes against my normal practice but in the circumstances any pressure on the new area puts it at risk of a really sore place developing and bandage scars the end result, which can in themselves cause further issues.
If he was going to be easy to do it would help but any messing about makes it so difficult to get a decent well padded dressing on that will stay on if they are out moving around, you also risk putting the tendon under pressure which is the last thing you need on top of everything, hopefully the antibiotics will do their job and he will heal up quickly.
