So after my last thread of telling you all how nervous i have become and how im struggling with any horse, i did somethink this morning and im very happy with myself.
So as i told you between myself and my mum we have brought a shetland pony for my daughter, she is too young to actually ride him yet, however we want to teach her to be confident on the ground, respect horses and be safe around them. Plus there more to horses then just riding them, she needs to muck in and out lol as well.
So im hoping that Buttons will teach me to become confident again. So after a nervy weekend spend with him and my mum. Yesterday morning came and i had to go alone. So 6am come i jumped in my car feeling a little apprehensive about being alone with him. I got to the yard approached the stable and there he was waiting for me nose in the air
i went it to the stable and he kept cuddling into my leg. I lead him out tied him up, groomed him
. I was worried as he a little bugger with his feet but to my surpise he pick all four up no problems. I then led him to his field, slipped the head collar off and he neighed and rolled around, although he was unsuccessful in rolling completly over, not to his lack of trying.
Sounds silly but my gorgeous 8hh shetland is slowly restoring my confidence just something so simple as that made me feel 100% better. We have only had him since sat so we are learning together but it was almost like he knew i was nervous and put me straight at ease. Off to see him shortly cannot wait
