Evening all.

Puzzle's foot currently looks like this:

IMG_0519.jpg

MASSIVE chunk missing. All of them have cracks in them.

I'm already giving her youngstock that contains Biotin, and every evening I'm rubbing her feet with Naf Profeet. What else can I do? Determined to correct them before the summer as they were so bad last year.

She's not even two yet.

Any help appreciated!

xx

Naf pro feet in her feed, to help inside out
Naf rock hard on lower half of feet every other day- to strenghten and prevent further breakages
Cornisucine- to cornet band every day to help with growth
and a anti batical every other day to the rock hard, again this stop any bad batical breaking down the hoof.

every once in a while a bit of effol.
Its such a pain but it does work wonders and it does take time,
Also using a good farrier offen, if unshod use a rasp to lightly take back any spitsagain to prevent cracks forming

how long has she been on the biotin? It takes 6-9 months for it to have full effect as the foot has to grow all the way down.

and as previous poster said, how often does she have her feet trimmed? Is there a reason she has a crack in it? It can be seedy toe and need cutting out...

She sees a farrier every 6 weeks with the others, he always gives her a shape up and takes off the scraggy bits, but shes not had any actual growth taken off since last November ish - he doesnt think thats unusual in littlies though.

Thanks for advice it helps. Losing the battle already!!!

I wouldn't worry too much, my youngster would go for a couple of months without seeing the farrier and when he did he had chunks missing. Part of teh problem is that the actual diameter of the hoof is changing dramatically, so they have a tendency to look as though they are splitting, cracking and will never be normal. My boy finally got his adult hoof shape and size towards the end of last year - so 3.5 years old. Now he is still only trimmed every 3 months, but the feet hold together now and we no longer have chips and chunks missing.

only a week or two. just want to get on top of it! i think they are growing out but as soon as they do others form =[
